Magician and Executive Producer Dewayne Hill Hires Two Writers For Scripted Series

Magician and Executive Producer Dewayne Hill hires writers Alexandra Hsie of Alex The Great Productions and Tony Gapastione of BraveMaker Media to help develop a scripted series based on a soon to be released graphic novel Hill is also developing through his production company, Pick A Card Productions. The title and story line are being kept under wraps but involves elements of the supernatural and technology with multi diverse characters. "I have lived with this story for seven years and with the hunger for new content to supply streaming wars, it is a great time to get into the market", Hill said.
The three person team has been meeting virtually since April, working on the story and arch of the series. "Working remotely and still keeping up with our timeline as worked great since all three of us live in different states", Hsie said.
A few producers and production companies are showing interest as momentum continues and has offered developmental notes on the story. "It is really exciting to work on a project like this because there is nothing like this on any of the streamers, yet", Gapastione said.
The Magician has secured funding to begin production on a short film which will serve as a "proof of concept" for the series. The film takes place a few years before the series kicks off and is set to begin shooting in late October for an early 2021 release.
About Dewayne Hill, Magician turned Film Maker performs all over the world for corporate events, colleges and churches. In 2009, he began film making and producing by launching a non scripted show for a cable station. He later produced and release an independent documentary short that was recognized and won two awards for Documentary Short and New African American Director.
About Alexandra Hsie, is a line producer and screenwriter with almost a decade of producing experience and five years in screenwriting. Her experience as a producer spans agency production and line producing for branded content, editorial, digital photo, and an indie feature film. As a writer, Alexandra won the 2015 Scriptapalooza 1 Hour Category competition with her spec script for The Walking Dead and is currently in a writers' room for an indie television pilot. Her short film that she directed, wrote and produced, titled Delivering, premiered at the New York Short Film Festival, screened at the NYWIFT Fall Shorts Festival, and was a Finalist in the New York Film & TV Festival.
